Day by day, a lot of the new breed pinoys are starting to be more techie/techy.(whichever) You will find a lot of teenagers having their own gadgets like ipod, mobile phones(nokia, samsung, lg, sony ericsson, motorola, siemens etc..), laptops, etc… which we (older guys LOL) don't have before when we were teens. They are those group of people who usually surf the net to do their homeworks or research but most of the time, to chat, check their friendster, play online games like ragnarok, watch youtube etc… Now the question is how can Filipinos cope with the growing market of online goers? how can we build businesses online? Answer, build a website? Definitely not,doing business online does not only mean having a website. A website owner who renders services or sell products needs to have a way to collect fees or payments from their potential clients. An internet payment gateway should be the answer. Having a website without being able to accept payments online is very critical for the success of an online business. Your website will just act as an online advertisement for your company if you can't accept payments online. Yes, your clients will know a lot of things about your company, will feel great about your service, will want to buy your products but that's just it. Sometimes, your website visitors will contact you to avail of your services or buy your products but most of the times they won't. Imagine that lost sale. PERA NA NAGING BATO PA.(sayang). That is one of the biggest reason why we need an internet payment gateway here in the Philippines like Paypal(we already have paypal, just for paying not for accepting payments). Picture your online business, having your products, and the best part is getting clients 24/7 while you are busy watching your favorite telenovela(marimar). That is the power of having an online payment gateway and we don't have it yet here in the Philippines(maybe we have some here but start-up cost? too high!). I believe that e-commerce here in the Philippines will only be successful once we have access to online payment gateways.
